Leaving Certificate
On completion of Transition Year, student’s progress into the 2 year Leaving Certificate (LC) Established or the Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme (LCVP).
The new Leaving Certificate grading system was introduced in 2017 and allocates marks from a H1 – H8/O1 – O8 and provides a broader opportunity for students to achieve.
Note: For Higher Level Mathematics, 25 bonus points will be awarded for H6 grades and above.
Leaving Certificate Key Dates (Portfolios/Coursework and Practical Exams) and Exam Timetable will be posted here during the school year.

Leaving Certificate – Subject Choice
State Examination Subjects
The core subjects for all senior students are:
- Mathematics
- Irish
- English
- French or German
Optional Subjects
Senior students then choose three additional option subjects to sit for the ‘State Examination’:
- Design and Communication Graphics
- Construction Studies
- Physics
- Chemistry
- Biology
- Agricultural Science
- Business
- Accounting
- Home Economics (Social & Scientific)
- History
- Geography
- Art, Craft and Design
Non-Examination Subjects
- Religious Education
- Career Guidance
- Physical Education
In addition we offer the optional LCVP (Leaving Certificate Vocational Programme).
